9th / 10th Grade will spend their days at BCHS in the 300 building.

College professors will come to the high school for their courses.

11th / 12th Grade will spend most of their days on the higher education side (100 building), except for lunch, tutorials and Path class at BCHS.

Courses by grade level:

Students follow a grade-specific course crosswalk to obtain all high school graduation credits while meeting associate degree requirements. 

BCHS does not offer extracurriclar activities or fine arts due to the specific crosswalk agreed upon between BCHS and Hill College.

High School Diploma: Students graduate at the "Distinguished" level with two endorsements (Mulit-disciplinary and Art & Humanities).

College Diploma: Associate of Liberal Arts from Hill College.

                      (Students must maintain a 2.0 or higher, pass all courses and remain on track for the opportunity to obtain this degree)

Burleson Collegiate High School offers students the opportunity t earn their Associate of Liberal Arts degree from Hill College (up to 60 college credit hours) while earning their high school diploma, at no cost to students.

Students complete 4 years of high school and 2 years of college simultaneously.

This program enables students to develop technical skills while earning college creditials and degrees to pursue in-demand career paths.

Who Can Apply for BCHS?

Any 8th-grader within the Burleson Independent School District boundary.

Out-of-District Applicants: 8th-graders and families who understand they will need to move within the Burleson ISD boundary and show proof of residency by July. 

What Makes a Student A Good Candidate for BCHS?

A student who:

• Wants to accelerate their learning
• Has good attendance
• Works well with others
• May have challenges making a transition into college
• Has the desire to attend, not being forced to attend
• Independent, mature and is prepared for accelerated learning 
• Wants to work hard
• Is willing to not participate in school-sponsored activities and fine arts (BCHS does not offer athletics or fine arts)

What Should We Expect If We Are Accepted into BCHS?

Path classes to help support the college workload and provide organizational strategies and support for students. 

Rigorous instruction and accelerated courses.

Studying Nightly (2-3 hours)

Small school and family atmosphere

All grades 70% or higher

Daily structured working tutorial time

No cost for tuition or textbooks for Hill College classes. If a student fails the course and has to retake a class to get back on track, the family is responsible for tuition, books, registration and scheduling.

Attendance Law - 90% rule for credit

College Standards

Professor discretion for courses if they will allow students to miss class. Students communicate and arrange with professor to coordinatore a plan for missing class(es).

College fosters independence - reminders are not typically given and there is no set routine and consistency in college classes.

Accommodations and plans are established through 504 and ARD meetings between BISD, student and parents. 

College Standards

Students (with the help of BCHS staff) apply for the same accommodations as BISD plans. The college determines what is approved.
